Camouflage

I must admit... I was slow to embrace this season's camo trend. Every piece I came across made me feel that I looked like a back-up dancer in Destiny's Child 2001 "Survivor" music video. Enter, these jeans. I am amazed at how chic and versatile this military inspired print can be. The superb fit and muted colors prevent them from crossing that music video line. These pants are sure to pair nicely with a variety of items in my wardrobe. I am particularly excited about them with a chunky grey knit and oversized wool coat for winter. I guess you can say I am a camo convert! I hope everyone is having a happy Thursday! Thank you for stopping by.

Cool Cobalt

Colbalt blue may be the perfect color. It is bright, it can be worn all year around, and it looks good on virtually every skin tone. Lucky for us... it is big for the fall. As seen here, black and white may be one of my favorite pairings with the cool blue. However, if you are inclined to be more adventurous, try a striking neon yellow bag or silver metallic pump. I hope everyone is having a great week and as always thank you for reading.

Transition

Happy Sunday! This is that awkward time of the year when fall styles fill the stores, but the weather doesn't permit indulging in knit and leather just yet. During this transition period, I have been getting creative with my summer favorites. This striped pencil usually feels ultra nautical when I style it for the summer. However, paired with my trusty denim jacket and calf hair leopard heels... it feels oddly autumn ready. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. And as always thank you for reading.

Color Blocking: Trend Spin Link-Up

This week on the Trend Spin Link-Up the trend is color blocking! I love the shape of this swingy pleated color block dress. The navy and poppy blocking feels sporty, but the fabric and silhouette makes this piece super girly. I feel the most feminine when I have a skirt that twirls and moves with me. Paired with neutrals and a statement necklace, this ensemble would be great for game day in the Grove at Ole Miss. Only more 9 days until kickoff! I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday. Thank you as always for reading.

Short Story

As the summer draws to a close, I feel an urgency of time and season to wear white whenever I can...while I still can.  I dread the eventual dismissal of some of my favorite pieces (like these high-waisted shorts) to the back of my closet where they await Easter Sunday. But truthfully, as a forward thinking individual, I have often thought that the 'no white after Labor day rule' is antiquated. In my opinion the decision to wear a particular color garment should be based more on the fabric type and weather conditions than on the item's color.

I am not going crazy and suggesting that one should wear a white eyelet and seersucker on Christmas day. I am merely suggesting a small shift in perception concerning weather appropriate whites and their place all year around. So call me crazy, but I think these shorts would look great with a black chunky knit, structured coat, and tights on a cold day. Winter white this year? I say, yes. These shorts have not seen their last week.

Casual Cool

Happy Thursday! With moving back to Law School... I have had a lot of errands to run. When tackling my to-do list I like to look pulled together, but also be comfortable!  This outfit does just that. This hooded fatigue jacket is also perfect for late afternoon showers. Here's to getting everything done...as Thomas Edison said, "there is time for everything." I hope he is right! Have a great week and thank you for stopping by.

Black and White

After a summer home in the Sunshine State I am finally back in Mississippi for my final year of law school. It is great to be back with friends and I must say I am ready to welcome the fall season. I am so excited for football, brightly colored leaves, and obviously wearing more leather!  This leather skirt is one of my favorite back-to-school fall finds. Paired with classic black and white stripes and a touch of leopard... I feel like I should be taking a stroll through Paris, France...not Oxford, MS.  All I am missing is a beret, Oui? I hope everyone is having a great week and thank you for reading!

Metallic: Trend Spin Link-Up

It is unbelievably August and this week on the Trend Spin Link-Up the trend is Metallic!  Despite the warm weather, I put together this look as a fall preview. Anything with a mirror-shine is going to be making a lot of appearances in my wardrobe this upcoming season. My current obsession is this chambray shirt which is an embellished spin on a classic favorite. The soft weekend cotton staple is amped up a notch with small metallic jewels. My metallic pumps (which have been a summer favorite of mine) will certainly transition into fall, and even into winter. I love the idea of pairing the light metallic sheen as an accent to heavy winter wool and rich leather. Even though I am excited about the transition in dressing that a new season brings... for now it is still summer. I am perfectly happy to enjoy what is left of warm nights and beach time with family. I hope everyone is having a great week and thank you for stopping by!
